Retire Asia History

The website was launched in August 2005, with over 100 pages of general information for anyone, young or old, travelling around (mainly Southeast) Asia or thinking about it, and also for those considering one the the region’s countries as a second home or retirement location.

The countries considered by Westerners as most suitable for expat living include the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia/Bali, Singapore and the former Indochina countries of Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam. Each place has its advantages and disadvantages related to cost of living, facilities and security – not to mention personal choice for a variety of reasons.

There are now well over a hundred pages of information covering some of these countries, plus topics of interest for those who want to continue earning income while living abroad.

Visit to see the wealth of knowledge available there, much of it from the personal experiences of a British expat living in the SE Asia region continuously for over 17 years.
